Menu bar

The menu at the top of the screen that groups the basic features.

You can change the shortcut keys in Keyboard Shortcuts.

File

New Ctrl+N: Opens the window for creating a new canvas.
Open Ctrl+O: Opens a canvas or an image file.
Recent Files: A list of files you have opened before.
New from Clipboard: Creates a canvas from a copied image, layers, and so on.
Save Ctrl+S: Saves the current canvas.
Save As Ctrl+Shift+S: Saves the current canvas under a new name.
Export Image: Exports the current canvas as an image.
Export Animation as Image Sequence: Exports the animation of the current canvas as an image sequence.
Exit Ctrl+Q: Quits SqPaint.

Undo Ctrl+Z: Undoes the last operation.
Redo Ctrl+Y: Redoes an operation undone with Undo.
Cut Ctrl+X: Copies the selected item, then deletes it.
Copy Ctrl+C: Copies the selected item (selection, layers, palette, sprites, or cels).
Paste Ctrl+V: Pastes the copied data.
Paste as New Layer Ctrl+Shift+V: Pastes the copied image as a new layer.
Delete Del: Deletes the selected item (selection, layers, palette, sprites, cels, or tracks).
Clear Image Backspace: With a selection: Erases the image inside the selection on the selected layers.
Without a selection: Erases the whole image of the selected layers.
Shift Color Indices: Shifts the palette indices of the colors on the selected layers. (If there is a selection, only inside the selection.)
Open Reference Image: Opens an image file to use as a reference image.

Select All Ctrl+A

Sets the whole canvas as the selection.

Deselect

Clears the current selection.

Invert Selection

Swaps the selected and unselected parts of the selection.

Flip Horizontal

Flips the image inside the selection horizontally.

Flip Vertical

Flips the image inside the selection vertically.

Rotate

90° Clockwise: Rotates the image inside the selection 90 degrees clockwise.
180°: Rotates the image inside the selection 180 degrees.
90° Counterclockwise: Rotates the image inside the selection 90 degrees counterclockwise.

Transform

Scales and rotates the image inside the selection.

Flip Horizontal Ctrl+H: Flips the canvas view horizontally.
Flip Vertical: Flips the canvas view vertically.
Grid Ctrl+G: Shows or hides the grid lines on the canvas.
Snap to Grid Shift+G: Toggles whether drawing and selecting snap to the grid lines.
Preview: Shows or hides the Preview panel.

Editor Settings: Settings for how SqPaint behaves and looks.
Layout Settings: Sets how the panels are arranged on the screen.
Keyboard Shortcuts: Changes the shortcut keys assigned to operations.
Manage Palette Templates: Adds, deletes, and renames the palette templates you use.
